We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We collect only what is necessary to run the service.
1. Who We Are
GotFreeCards is an online greeting card service where you can personalise, print, and send free ecards. The site is operated as a small independent project.
2. What Data We Collect
When you sign in
We use Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0). When you authenticate, Google shares your email address and display name with us. We store your email address in our database to identify your account. We do not store your Google password — we never see it.
We do not collect: - Your phone number - Your date of birth - Your location - Any information beyond what Google provides during sign-in
When you use the site without signing in
You can browse, personalise, and print cards entirely without an account. In this case we collect nothing that identifies you.
When you send an eCard
We store the recipient's email address, your chosen sender name, and the card content so we can deliver the card and track whether it was opened (so you get a read receipt). We do not share this with third parties.
Server logs
Our web server records standard access logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp). Raw logs are rotated and deleted after 40 days. Aggregated, anonymised analytics derived from these logs (e.g. page popularity, usage trends) are retained for up to 18 months and are not used for advertising purposes.

We use two types of cookies.
Essential cookies (always active)
These are required for the site to work. You cannot opt out of them while using the site.

4. How We Use Your Data

5. Third-Party Services
Google Sign-In
Used for authentication. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google AdSense
Used to display advertisements (only if you accept non-essential cookies). AdSense may use cookies to personalise ads. You can manage Google's ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Fonts
We load a font (DM Serif Display) from Google Fonts. This makes a request to Google's servers. Google Fonts does not use cookies and does not track users. See Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
6. Data Retention

7. Your Rights
You can: - Access the data we hold about you — contact us and we will provide it within 30 days. - Delete your account and all associated data — contact us and we will action it promptly. - Withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the footer and selecting "Essential Only".
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
